Join New York States of Mind (NYSOM) in the Adirondacks on Sunday, September 14, 2014, as we host our very first event:
MEET THE MAKERS
Along with the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) and the Adirondack Folk School (AFS), we welcome you to spend an afternoon with three distinct New York-based organizations — the for-profit NYSOM and nonprofits ANCA and AFS — as we bring together regional artisans in a panel discussion of the obstacles and opportunities for makers in the global “Buy Local”/”Made Local” market to promote on a larger scale all that New York has to offer.
NYSOM Co-Founder and CEO, Silda Wall Spitzer, will kick off the event with a keynote address to share what inspired her to co-create NYSOM, and the importance of, and possibilities in, bringing together the stories of New York’s people, places, products and ideas on a single platform that can be comprehensively accessed by a broader market.
Following the keynote, a panel of four regional artisans will present their experiences and take questions from the audience. The panel consists of:
• Doug Collum, of Stick Candles in Old Forge
• Janet Flinchbaugh, of The Pine-Apple Tree in Glens Falls
• Sandy Maine, of Adirondack Fragrance and Flavor Farm in Potsdam
Executive Director of ANCA, Kate Fish, will moderate.
WHERE: Adirondack Folk School, 51 Main Street, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846
WHEN: Sunday, September 14th, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. John Kirk and Trish Miller of the Quickstep Band will perform. Locally-sourced refreshments, including Saratoga Crackers, will be catered by UpRiver Cafe. We look forward to seeing you there!
